Our projects focus on advocacy, education and community engagement to advance equity and access for Deaf women.

Understanding Help Seeking Barriers in Domestic Violence for Deaf Minorities Women

This research explores the barriers faced by Deaf minoritised women when seeking support services for domestic violence. The project aims to identify and better understand the systemic obstacles that prevent Deaf women from accessing the help they need. Our primary goal is to document these barriers and advocate for trauma-informed, inclusive, and fully accessible services tailored to Deaf minoritised women. DEWA strongly condemns domestic violence and is committed to driving accessible, sustainable, and empowering change within policy frameworks and support services.

Join DEWA in a project to understand the joys and difficulties of raising a deaf child from a minority background in the UK today.

Our research, which is backed by the National Deaf Children’s Society, aims to improve the lives of deaf children by uncovering any inequalities in education, services and provisions.
